What Is Airbnb Plus?

When renting a property, you want the best of the best, right? You don’t want to stay somewhere with low reviews, and the host isn’t responsive. Instead, you want to ensure you’ll always be looked after. But how can you guarantee you are going to get this? Of course, you can look at reviews, but sometimes you never know what to expect until you reach the property.

That’s where Airbnb Plus comes into play. It offers verified properties that offer exceptional hospitality and are incredibly popular among renters. If this sounds like something that interests you, whether you’re a renter or host, then you can find out more about Airbnb Plus by reading the information below.

The difference between Airbnb Plus and Airbnb

If you have a property and want to upload a normal Airbnb listing, pretty much anyone can, as long as you are over 18 and have an account on the platform. Airbnb Plus, on the other hand, is reserved only for the best properties in the area. It includes rentals that provide guests with an extremely high-quality stay.

Airbnb Plus is still fairly new and only available in certain cities worldwide, such as Barcelona, Cape Town, London, Los Angeles, Melbourne, and more. Airbnb inspectors will review the property and go through a checklist with a wide range of requirements. You can rent out a full home/apartment or even just a private room to become an Airbnb Plus host.

The difference between Airbnb Plus and Airbnb Superhost

If you’ve been on Airbnb before and looked for a property to rent, you’ve probably come across rentals with a ‘Superhost’ verification. This can make things confusing when trying to figure out the difference between Airbnb Plus and Airbnb Superhost because they both involve properties that go above and beyond.

The main difference between the two is that you need to be invited to the Airbnb Plus program and go through an inspection, whereas you will earn an Airbnb Superhost status automatically if you meet specific requirements, such as maintaining a 4.8 star rating for an extended period of time.

What does an Airbnb Plus rental include?

Airbnb Plus rentals are at the top of the property rental food chain and only offer the best for its guests. They have been personally reviewed by a staff member and have special touches you won’t find on other normal properties on the site.

Some of the amenities that an Airbnb rental needs to have includes the following:

  • Access to a full kitchen with appliances and utensils
  • At least one TV with the possibility of streaming
  • Filtered water, or bottles of water in the fridge
  • Fast Wi-Fi connection
  • Secure doors, windows, and locks on all bedroom doors
  • High-quality appliances and furniture

Check-in is also a much easier process with Airbnb Plus rentals. It is usually automatic, where the hosts give you a code for a keypad for the door or lockbox. Or you will have a host who is easily accessible.

Airbnb Plus listings: How to find and book

You’ve now heard about how fantastic Airbnb Plus is, so how can you actually find a property with this rating? Of course, these rentals book out quickly, but it is still possible to find and book one on the site. The best thing to do is narrow your search by location and amenities as much as possible so you don’t have to search through pages of Airbnb properties.

Ensure you are looking for an Airbnb Plus listing in a location that uses this program. Once you’ve narrowed your search as much as possible and entered all relevant information, such as how many guests will be staying in the rental, you can start looking. You know you’ll have found an Airbnb Plus property because it will have the badge in the upper-left-hand corner of the listing.

How expensive is an Airbnb Plus?

Since Airbnb Plus properties need to offer the highest quality properties and best service around, they aren’t going to be the cheapest listings on the website. However, you do get what you pay for. On average, the nightly rate of an Airbnb Plus rental will be around $200.

The good thing about Airbnb Plus is that you don’t need to pay any membership fees to rent one of the properties. This can sometimes counterbalance the fact you’ll be paying more in total. If you do want to save a bit of money on your stay, you can opt for a standard listing for around $100 a night, but there may be extra fees.

How to become an Airbnb Plus host

Becoming an Airbnb Plus host isn’t easy, and there are a few hoops you’ll have to jump through first to get into the program. If you do own a property and want to upload a listing onto the site, you will need to work hard to achieve a minimum of 4.8 star rating, just like a Superhost. You will then need to pay a $149 application fee to receive consideration for the program, but that doesn’t guarantee you’ll get in.

In some cases, if you display high standards of quality and the best amenities for your property, you will receive an invitation to join the program without paying the application fee. You must have had no cancellations in the past year and accepted at least 95% of booking requests. Lastly, a staff member will need to review the checklist and review your property.

Is Airbnb Plus right for you?

Of course, you want to stay in the best place possible when you are away from home, but this isn’t always possible. You should only book with an Airbnb Plus property if it offers you what you need, if it is offered in the location you’re traveling to, and if you can afford it.

Going for a property that isn’t a verified Airbnb Plus listing doesn’t mean you won’t have a good time. Sometimes a property just hasn’t made it there yet. So, if you are considering an Airbnb Plus property, only go for it if you have the finances and it offers amenities you need that you cannot find on other properties.
